MCIU SIGNS AN MOU WITH ACCA
On Thursday 19th October 2017, MCIU signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). The aim of the MoU was to create a good relationship between MCIU and ACCA and also having students with the right skills and capability in the profession of Finance, Business and Accounting.
Mr. Patrick Oseigbu, representative of ACCA stated that “the journey which began in June 2017 was made possible today with the signing of MoU”. ACCA is concerned with Education which he said is “key” and also having a platform where every student in the department of Accounting can learn the profession of Accounting and be a role model. He also noted that the MoU would signal a good relationship as it relates to two key areas of their brand which is “Observation and Opportunity”. One of the gains of this collaboration especially on the side of MCIU is to have more accreditation in the Accounting department.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mrs. Ibyinka Fawupe gave a key note address. She stated “today history is being made as MCIU signs a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between her and ACCA. ACCA was founded in 1904 and it is the global professional accounting body offering the Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) qualification examinations. ACCA promotes principles-based regulation and ensures the accounting profession grows in reputation and influence. Our hope is that the partnership with ACCA will help MCIU grow in the right direction and become a strong department in the south-south region and Nigeria as a whole”.
The President and Visitor to MCIU, Dr. Mrs. Cecilia further said that, “Accounting is not just numerical but it is about proper understanding and application of numerical as contained in the English word. She thanked ACCA for taking the bold initiative, stating not just about accounting but it is all round education they are signing out. Also ensuring that we will take part in the quality of graduate we take into ACCA and we want to be one of the best”. Dr. Ibru concluded
