MCIU at Urhobo Economic Investment Summit

The Urhobo Economic Investment Summit is an annual summit that focuses on the economic development of the Urhobo Nation. The second edition of this summit held in KFT event centre, Warri on the 22nd of November, 2019. 

The conference featured speakers of Urhobo extraction from all part of the state and beyond including Chief David Edevbie, Chief of Staff, Delta State Government, Dr.Benson Uwheru, Partner Ernst & Young, Engr. Mike Orugbo, MD/CEO O-Secul Engineering, Hon.Stella Okotete, Executive Director Business Development, NEXIM Bank, Mr.Peter Mrakpor, Attorney General & Commissioner for Justice Delta State, Chief Emma Avworo, President DACCIMA, Dr.O’Diakpo Obire, President/CEO Hartfield Group Principal Consultant, Mr. Obaro M.Osah, Regional Manager South East, Bank of Industry, Prof Eric Eboh, Chief Job and Wealth Creation Officer Delta State to mention a few.

The theme of this year conference: Private Sector & the Future of the Nigerian Economy: Ease of Doing Business in Urhobo land was delivered by the Keynote Speaker, Dr.Benson Uwheru.

The keynote speaker said the economy needs to be dynamic for it to be vibrant. He stated that no economy can thrive without a healthy private sector. In Nigeria, we have too many powerful individuals and weak institutions. If individuals are too powerful they undermine the institutions. He proposed we come up with a fifty years economic development plan for Urhobo land through a strategic blueprint involving Human Capital Development, ICT Adoption, Skills Acquisition and Infrastructure Development by Government.

The highlight of the conference was the deliberation by the panelist on the best way to achieving economic stability and development in Urhobo land.
