The National Universities Commission (NUC), has given Michael and Cecilia Ibru University, Agbarha-Otor, Delta State, full accreditation for six programmes.
The accreditation exercise began on the 2nd of November, 2018, with the arrival of the first set of NUC accreditation team led by Prof. Asahaolu. For four weeks, over 15 professors were in our university to thoroughly inspect our facilities, curriculum and publications.
The NUC teams were impressed with our serene environment, library, laboratories and state-of-art facilities. They commended the university management for a job well done, justifying the huge amount of money that has been invested in infrastructures, thereby ensuring excellence in every department.
The NUC awarded full accreditation to the following programmes:
- Computer Science Full accreditation
- Business Administration Full accreditation
- Economics Full accreditation
- Accounting Full accreditation
- Banking & Finance Full accreditation
- Biochemistry Full accreditation
According to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Ibiyinka Fuwape, “MCIU’s accreditation is a huge achievement, because, we are graduating our first set of students in September 2019 and we are now sure that they will be mobilized for the NYSC programme.” She further noted that this result has only projected the University as a place where excellence can be achieved.
Prof. Fuwape congratulated and commended the Visitor to the University, Dr. Cecilia Ibru, Board of Trustees, the Pro-Chancellor, Prof. Peter Gbewa Hugbo, and other members of the governing council. In her congratulatory message to the students and staff, Prof. Fuwape urged everyone not to rest on their oars bearing in mind that “we are all on a quest for excellence in a changing world.
