MCIU GOVERNING COUNCIL MEETS WITH STUDENTS
It was all laughter and exchange of pleasantries on Tuesday, 28th November 2017 when members of the MCIU Governing Council were formally introduced to the students of the University by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Mrs.) Ibiyinka Fawupe. The Governing Council is headed by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Chief Joop Berkhout (OON). Other members introduced to the students are Prof. Johnson Ekpere of the University of Ibadan, Prof. Christopher Orubu of the Delta State University, Abraka, Prof. Anthony Kila of the Cambridge University, Mr. Edward Sido(Jnr) a Chartered Accountant base in the United States of America, Mr. Ashafa Ladan (NUC representative), Chief Samuel E. Ibodje, Former Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Port-Harcourt, Mr. Joseph Bitrus, Mr. Solomon O. Ichide (Ministry of Higher Education, Delta State). Thecomposition of the MCIU Governing Council also has internal memebrs of the Council who are staff of the University. They areProf Ibiynka Fawupe (Vice-Chancellor) Dr. Daniel Whawo (Director of Academic Planning), Dr. Thomas N. Kolo (Registrar). Dr. Peter Ishola (Director Quality Assurance), Dr. (Mrs.) Chizoba Oladayo (Ag. Dean of Natural and Applied Sciences and Mr. Yomi Adelegan( Director Audit and Compliance).

The Chairman, Chief Joop Berkhout (OON) addressed and admonished the students to do their best to become the best in life. Speaking further, Chief Joop stated that the students are fortunate to be in the young University with highly qualified and committed workforce. He added that he has been in Nigeria for 55 years and he is happy to be here in MCIU. Also, looking at the structure of the University, the students are in for the best of time. He commended the students for choosing MCIU, wishing them the best in the University. He looks forward to witnessing when they will all graduate from the University in few years’ time.
On a final note, Chief Joop noted that “the society does not owe them anything, instead they owe the society everything”. Both members of the Governing council, staff and students of the institution were happy meeting each other and it was a solemn moment
