Professor Onigu Otite
Professor Onigu Otite obtained BA. Hons (Sociology) degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and Ph.D. in Social Anthropology from the University of London. He was Professor of Sociology at the University of Ibadan. He is an author of Autonomy and Dependence (1973), editor of Themes in African Social and Political Thought (1978), co-author of An Introduction to Sociological Studies (1979), co-editor of Readings in Nigerian Rural Society and Rural Economy (1990), editor of Sociology, Theory and Applied (1994), Ethnic Pluralism Ethnicity and Ethnic Conflicts in Nigeria (2000) etc. and numerous chapters in books and articles in learned journals.
Professor Onigu Otite has served as external examiner in several universities in Nigeria and Ghana.. He was a Visiting Research Professor at the University of Bergen, Norway and Visiting Professor at the University of Pennsylvania in the United States of America. He was foundation Secretary, President and now Fellow of the Nigerian Anthropological and Sociological Association. He is also Fellow of the Social Science Academy of Nigeria. He acquired tremendous experience in university administration, teaching, research and publications for more than thirty years at the University of Ibadan.
Professor Onigu Otite is currently the Chairman of Board of Trustees (BOT) of the Michael and Cecilia Ibru University, Agbarha-Otor, Delta State, Nigeria.
Chief Joop Berkhout, OON
Chief Joop Berkhout was born on 31st March 1930 in Amsterdam, Holland. He was educated at St. Lucia Primary School, Haarlem, 1937-1943; St. Jeroen Secondary School, Haarlem, 1943-1948. Over the years he attended various courses on Higher Level Management in Publishing, Marketing and Finance. He began his working career as a Representative of P. Groen Venlo, Holland in 1948.

Bahrain Arabian Gulf, 1957-1960; Shipping Manager, T.O.M. Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanzania 1960-1962; Manager, Cathedral Bookshop, Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanzania 1962-1964; Manager Oxford University Press, Malawi, Zambia based in Lusaka, 1964-1966; 1966-1978, Evans Brothers Publishers Ltd, where he served in various capacities : General Manager, Managing Director; Deputy Chairman; Member, Board of Directors; Evans U.K; Group Export Director, Evans Brothers, London 1978- 1992, Managing Director, Spectrum Books Ibadan. In 1992-2008, he purchased 100% of Spectrum and became Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Spectrum Books, Ibadan until 2008 when he sold the company. Executive Chairman: Safari Books Ltd. Ibadan-2008-to date.
As a publisher, Chief Joop Berkhout has had a remarkable career, having successfully practiced the profession in East and West Africa as well as in Europe. He turned the fortunes of Evans Brothers Ltd round in a very remarkable way and instead of settling for a very senior position at Evans headquarters in London; he preferred to return to Nigeria. Started Spectrum Books, a publishing company that has defined for itself an area in publishing in which it excels.
The company is 35 year old and has been a very successful enterprise providing jobs for over 100 Nigerians and over 500 eminent authors. Spectrum Books has contributed to the education sector by publishing important books and setting a new dynamic approach to book publishing changing the landscape of the industry. His contribution to education and literature by publishing over 1000 titles by important authors in his life time is unique. Trained many people who are now holding senior positions in the industry. September 2008 he reactivated Safari Books Limited together with his son, George Berkhout.
After 5 years the company has expanded and continued to play a major role in publishing, books and journal supply. At the age of 83years, he is fully involved in expansion of the company as the Chairman/CEO. He has spent most of his life (47 years) in Ibadan which is his permanent home. He holds the traditional title of “The Okun Borode of Ife” 1990. He is a Nigerian Citizen.
In recognition of his remarkable contribution to the publishing industry, education and Nigeria, Chief Joop Berkhout, an entrepreneur of repute was honoured with the National award of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) in 2002 by the then President Olusegun Obasanjo. He is a widower with four children and 8 grand children; He has adopted a Nigerian son George Berkhout who will continue the Berkhout reputation and dynasty in Nigeria.
Prof. (Mrs.) Ibiyinka Fuwape was born in Lagos State to the family of Mr. and Mrs. David Ademokun of Ogun State on 18th December, 1962. She had her primary school education at Reagan Memorial Baptist Girls Primary School, Yaba, Lagos. She also obtained her O’Level certificate with a division one grade in 1979 from the Methodist Girls High School, Yaba, Lagos. She proceeded to Queen’s College Yaba for her Higher School Certificate from 1979-1981.
Prof. (Mrs.) Ibiyinka Fuwape was born in Lagos State to the family of Mr. and Mrs. David Ademokun of Ogun State on 18th December, 1962. Prof. Fuwape holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Physics (First Class) from the University of Ibadan in 1984. She went on National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) from 1984-1985.She holds a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in 1986 and 1989 respectively from the University of Ibadan.
She was employed as an Assistant Lecturer in 1989 at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) and rose through the ranks and promoted a Professor in October, 2003. She served in FUTA in many capacities as Coordinator, Acting Head of Department, Head of Department of Physics for a period of nine years. She served as Dean, School of Sciences, between 2011-2015 where she got the award of the best Dean of the year in 2012. She eventually, became the Chairperson of many Committees and Boards in FUTA. She has been a member of the University Senate from 2003 till date. She acted as the Chairman of Senate when she was made the Chairman, Committee of Deans. She is a member of the Governing Council Federal University of Technology, Akure, from 2012 till date. She is also serving as a member of Council of Ogun State (Moshood Abiola) Polytechnic Abeokuta from 2013 till date. She has successfully supervised many undergraduates (FUL and FUTA), Masters and PhD students. She has been in the university system for over thirty-one (31) years.
Prof. Fuwape was a visiting scholar at Ohio University Athens, Ohio, United States of America (USA) from 2007-2009. She was an Associate of the Abdus Salam International Center for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) Trieste, Italy from 1996-2002 where she conducted research with reputable scientists. She is a fellow of the Schlumberger Faculty for the Future (FFTF). She attended many scientific conferences at home and abroad. She also organised many conferences at local, national and international levels. She mentored individuals including women into pursuing scientific disciplines and achieving excellence in life. She has published several papers in reputable journals both locally and internationally. After a competitive interview by the Michael and Cecilia Ibru University (MCIU) Governing council, the Board of trustees of the same university found her worthy to be the new Vice-Chancellor. She is a Christian, happily married to Prof. Joseph Fuwape and blessed with children.
Dr. Thomas Kolo
Dr. Thomas Ndayiye Kolo was born in 1950 and had his primary and teachers’ college through the assistance of the missionaries in 1965 and 1971 respectively. He attended the Advanced Teachers’ College in Kano, BU Zaria and University of Ibadan. From these schools, he was able
to receive his Standard Seven, Grade II, NCE, B.Ed., M.Ed. and Ph.D. certificates. For his M.Ed. and Ph.D. degrees, he was able to study Educational Evaluation at the University of Ibadan. As part of his experience, he was a teacher in the primary school, secondary schools, teachers’ college, a lecturer at the School of Midwifery, College of Education and universities; principal and chief examiner at the State Ministry of Education; English Language Moderator for National Board for Educational Measurement (NBEM); Head, Research and Development Division of JAMB; Head, Research Monitoring and Evaluation Department in JAMB; Director, Quality Assurance Department in JAMB; Chief Coordinator of UTME in JAMB; Member, Constitution Drafting Committee of National Conference for Educational Assessment (NCEA); Part-time lecturer, ABU and UDU from 2013 to 2016; Secretary, National Conference on Educational Assessment; Secretary, Role of JAMB in Higher Education Management; Secretary, Task Force on Vision 2010 Committee on Education; Secretary, LOC, AEAA; Chairman, Publication Sub- Committee of AEAA; Secretary, AEAA Journal. He is a member of Association for Educational Assessment in Africa (AEAA) and also the International Association for Educational Assessment (IAEA). For research experiences, Dr. Kolo has delivered numerous public lectures, written JAMB monitoring reports, JAMB research projects, JAMB book projects, had workshop presentations, author of national and international conference papers/proceedings, contributed in the Federa Ministry of Education directed projects and abhor activities in JAMB and other organisations. In 2010, Dr. Kolo retired from Federal Civil Service as a Director in JAMB and immediately
thereafter, he was recalled as a Contract Officer in JAMB for two years because of his performance. Presently, he is a document reviewer for National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB); Supervisor for the Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) and of recent, appointed as the Registrar of the Michael and Cecilia Ibru University (MCIU) and Registrar, Michael and Cecilia College of Education (MCFCOE).
Since the establishment of the Michael and Cecilia Ibru University (MCIU) in 2015, the Registry Department was immediately put in place. The Registry was first headed by Elder Johnson A. Okwudei. After few months, he resigned his appointment and a new Registrar was appointed by name Dr. T.N. Kolo, a former Director of Quality Assurance in JAMB. The new Registrar resumed work on 2nd April, 2016 till date.
Mr. Christopher .T. Akenroye
Mr. Christopher .T. Akenroye is a graduate of University of Ilorin. He obtained the Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting (Second class upper division) in 1997. He also obtained Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 2001.
He started his banking career life in 1999 at the erstwhile United Bank for Africa Plc (Internal Control Division). Later, he advanced his banking professional career in the Standard Trust Bank Ltd, Oceanic Bank of Nigeria Plc, and Eco Bank of Nigeria Ltd. He had over 13 years of professional banking experiences. While he was in the banking industry, he worked in various departments of the banks ranging from Banking Operations, Internal Control Unit, Administration Unit, Inspection Division, Investigation Unit, Customer Complaint Desk and Financial Control.
He voluntarily resigned his appointment with Eco Bank of Nigeria Ltd in 2012 to join the services of Michael and Cecilia Foundation (MCF) in April 2012. While in MCF, he held the position of Executive General Manager (Finance and Admin). In August 2015, he was later appointed as the pioneer Bursar of Michael and Cecilia Ibru University (MCIU). He is the current Bursar of the University.
He belongs to various professional organizations including the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), the Institute of Chartered Management Auditors (ICMA) and Academy for Entrepreneurial Studies, Nigeria (AES). He is happily married with children.
